I’m looking to purchase model BCD 325P2 uniden handheld scanner. I would like to purchase it through Amazon, which would be a lot cheaper and have someone program it for me . years ago. I had a base model scanner and there was a gentleman I believe that lived in New York that instructed me on how to download frequencies in my area, which is Dover, Delaware, I’m just wondering what direction you can give me to help me download my frequencies for my area. Thank you.

You can listen to fire/EMS in the state and air traffic control at Dover AFB. Depending upon your location, you may have problems receiving the new state P25 radio system with the BCD325P2 due to simulcast distortion. That results in missed transmissions and garbled audio. The only scanners specifically designed to receive simulcast sites are the Uniden SDS100 handheld and SDS200 base/mobile. The new statewide P25 system, which has fire/EMS and other agencies, is in the process of being updated in the database. As stated earlier, law enforcement is encrypted. Any talkgroup with TE in the Mode column is fully encrypted. State of Delaware P25 Trunking System, Multiple, Delaware

If you can afford it definitely go with the SDS100 over the 325p2 to monitor State of DE that way you won't lose your mind trying to mitigate simulcast distortion. Dover looks to be within range of two (maybe 3?) sites on the Kent Simulcast so the phenomenon will likely be an issue for you. There are a number of multipath mitigation methods you can try with other scanners in the wiki I linked, they may or may not work

If you go with the SDS100, use Uniden Sentinel for programming, it's a breeze. Only drawback is you'll need to remove objects (sites/departments/TGIDs) you feel you don't need from your favorites list since appending a trunked radio system gives you everything, like it or not. Which is why I prefer Proscan for greater favorites list customization.
