Just got my scanner back from Uniden. It had a broken USB port on the front.
Was surprised to see they are now replacing the fromt and rear port with a different smaller USB port.
So the original cables that came with the scanner no longer work.
Luckily I had one that fit. I am assuming that they just changed the board that the USB ports were connected to.
No explanation when the scanner was returned and nothing on Uniden's repair site, except that the scanner was delivered to me.

How old did it take to get the scanner returned to you? My SDS100 USB port needs replacing and I've been putting it off.

You are saying that when they repaired the unit, the USB port is now something different than USB Micro?
What is it?

Since the rear USB does nothing, I had forgotten it was even back there.

So @JANFINE we are all curious what they replaced and with what?

My SDS 200 Micro port was replaced last year. The same type of USB fitting was used on a new unit they sent back.

The USB Micro was replaced with a USB Mini both on the front and the back. Not the original ports.

Do you have a pic of the new mini?

And they painted the scratches on the case too.

Did they actually paint the scratches or replace the faceplate since the footprint is different between each connector?

In event of fitting changes and not in an isolated cases , Uniden should declare such on the manuals.

This doesn't make any sense..... in your first post you stated that they replaced your ports with smaller ones - and in your follow up post you stated that they replaced the micro ports with mini ports.....

USB mini ports are larger than Micro ports.

As mentioned previously, please post a picture of you SDS200 showing those ports.

I can' t believe that Uniden knowingly changed the micro USB ports to mini USB ports. If they did, a new mini cable should have been included. If you are sure they are mini ports, I would contact Uniden for an explanation. JoeBearcat are you out there?

The OP stated that were no notes indicating such change, thus I wonder how many users in the future repairs /replacements try to fit their original Micro cable into the Mini drive?
