I came across a new system somewhere in the DC area. In central Loudoun with an elevated antenna and amp it's barely audible and not decodeable. In Sterling in a less than ideal location it's just strong enough to get the ID and WACN of BEE00.

Plug in 173.175 and see what you get in your location.

Could be that it's new and not operational yet or since it's a holiday weekend and many feds left work early today. But it gives me a reason to go for a motorcycle ride tomorrow to narrow it down.

It was able to get a sysid at Rt7/Rt9. Definitely not the CBP training center in Harpers Ferry, no signal at all there. Doesn't seem to be Mt Weather. No improvement in signal on Rt7 at the top of the mountain and I didn't go all the way up to Mt Weather. I did see a noticeable improvement when I checked in Kabletown. 2-3bars

Surprised to see that someone added this system to the database yesterday evening. Not sure that it ranks up there with STARS though -

172.6625 is reported at Mount Weather previously. https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?aid=1594

The Mt. Weather P25 Phase II trunk system does use the old 172.6625 as one of its frequencies.
It is on the east side of the mountain. The complete system is:
172.6625 (162.1250 input)
173.1750 (164.0750 input) current control channel

Note being Phase II, it can put 2 simultaneous transmission on the active traffic frequency.

Actually had some activity today -

You post from DSD+ shows it looking like Phase I but when I looked at it the other day, when there was traffic, I thought DSD+ said "Phase II" but at the time I was mobile and not wearing my reading glasses. Looking now at the log which I had not yet deleted, it does say Phase I contrary to my earlier post.

In monitoring up to now, I never saw 173.9625 come up and this is the first I have seen of it. May be they just brought in on line with the system unfinished being installed. We might watch for further expansion. I assume you saw the input in the other DSD+ window.

So my post was wrong (at least starting today) about "complete" and likely wrong about Phase II. (I got to remember to not post things read without my reading glasses.)

If driving in the area, the signal is not impressive unless you pass below along the east side of the mountain (where one can actually see some of the facilities on the side). It is definitely not on the top.
