I don't know how this happened but it appears that my unitrunker.xml got corrupted some way and I now have one motorola system delegated to another.

As a backup in case something like this happens I export all my systems to thier own .xml file. Apparently the last time I did that was after they got delegated and I didn't notice it.

I tried deleting both systems and importing them but they were still delegated.

Is there a way to split them apart or undelegate them?

Shut down Unitrunker, then manually edit the Unitrunker.xml file with Notepad. Search for delegate= and delete that parameter from the system in question (i.e. delete delegate="A01B")

That will break the connection between the systems, however I'm not quite sure what happens to the users/groups that were originally part of the system you delegated. They may still be there, they may be gone. There is no way to "undo" the delegation within Unitrunker, though. The best you can hope for is to restore an earlier archive that was saved prior to the delegation.

Removing the delegate= entry fixed that part. Then I tried moving some talkgroups and radio IDs to the proper system but they didn't show up. It looks like I will have to start all over from scratch with the one system.

Hi Tom;

The XML is laid out like so ...

<Folder>

<System id="1234" type="Motorola" >

<Site id="1" >
<Channel lcn="100" />
<Channel lcn="200" />
<Channel lcn="300" />
</Site>

<Group id="1" />
<Group id="2" />
<Group id="3" />

<User id="501" />
<User id="502" />
<User id="503" />

</System>

<System id="5678" type="Motorola" delegate="1234" >

<Site id="1" >
<Channel lcn="100" />
<Channel lcn="200" />
<Channel lcn="300" />
</Site>

</System>

</Folder>

In the example above, system 5678 delegates to system 1234 for groups and users. If you remove the delegate attribute, system 5678 has no groups or users. If you know which groups / users belong under 5678, you should be able to cut / paste the <Group /> and <User /> elements to the right place. In any case, it's a big mess to clean up.

Which systems got munged together?

I fixed it. I moved the groups and users to the wrong place the first time.

Somehow Sheppard AFB (BC31) got delegated to OKWIN (092C). I still don't know if it was something I did or the program corrupted itself. It crashed a few times a few weeks ago when. I had selected several items and clicked the inspect button and it crashed each time I did that so I had to edit them individually.

What version are you running? That crash upon using the Inspect tool was fixed two or three versions ago. Make sure you're running 1.0.26.16, that's the latest release.

That's what I'm using 1.0.26.16 on Windows 7 Home 64-bit.
If I select more than one channel it crashes when you try to inspect. It doesn't crash when doing that with sites, groups or users.

Interesting. Is it creating a crash dump? If so, send it to Rick.

Thanks Tom. I just reproduced this - complete with crash dump.

I don't think it was anything you did. You can manually delegate one system to another but clearly that's not the case here. It must have happened as consequence of auto-delegation.

The program has safeguards to prevent delegating two unrelated systems. There must be some circumstance I've missed.

Are you able to monitor both OKWIN and Sheppard from the same location?

Is the signal receiver set to a lock mode of "Site Lock" or "Dedicated"?

Is the signal receiver an inline model or discriminator audio?

I can receive both OKWIN and SAFB and several other systems here using a tapped PRO-2006 for discriminator audio. I don't use dedicated or site lock so that I can quickly change channels and go from one system to another. Maybe that is part of the problem.

I know that on multi site P25 systems if I change the scanner from one site's control channel to another Unitrunker will sometimes think it found a "new" control channel on the current site and I will have to go back and delete it. I have never seen that happen on any Motorola systems and I have never had it happen when switching between different systems so either it is a fluke or I accidently did something else that caused it and did not realize it.

You operate your own personal EWACS?

Seriously, though - that's a helpful clue. I don't have any networked Motorola systems nearby. I need to rig a unit test for this. Thanks.

Oh, that crash you reported is fixed. Keep an eye open for the next preview.
