I don't know what radios you have or what, if any, SDRs you have presently.
Version 1 would have improvements and bug fixes over Retro. It also supports more scanner models.
My suggestion is to purchase a relatively cheap SDR like the RTL-SDR.com v5 or an NESDR SMArTee (but not the XTR model) and run version 2.1 (or later). You could also run all kinds of other SDR software - most of which is free. These cheaper SDRs go for $38.
If you do not have an SDR or the SDR(s) you have are tied up doing other things, I think V1 will work for you.
