In Ottawa I saw unmarked vehicle which looked like a cop car (dark blue Charger) with Quebec plates, had two 1/4 wave UHF antennas on the roof about a foot apart. Any idea which agency this might belong to?

Hi Dave, maybe Surete du Quebec or a civilan who bought one at auction and put back antenna in place. But that's the only police dept in Quebec who have 2 uhf antenna on the roof, placed from left to right

Thanks, good picture of the SQ car. As I understand: VHF antenna is RENIR, 700/800MHz
for vehicle repeater (DVR), and UHF antennas are for mobile data (Quebec gov't system).

The car I saw had only UHF antennas, front/back but orientation not important. So it not likely SQ,
but some agency which only requires MDTs.

Right now I can hear data signals on:

460.4875
461.1375
461.3625
461.5125
462.0375

Is there a name for this system, and is it documented somewhere?

SQ , VHF renir is 136@174 MHz ( long antenna )

UHF is vehicular repeater 400@470 MHz ( 2 smal antenna )

Other smal antenna is DATA for computer in a car ( other car have low profil antenna )

You're wrong.

SQ uses the following antenna scheme
Trunk : 1 long VHF Comprod Antenna for the RITP mobile radio
1 small UHF Comprod Antenna for the repeater
Roof : 2 small UHF 1/4 wave antenna for the RTD (Data modem to provide internet to the Getac in the car)

For the car that uses RENIR system

1 long comprod VHF Antenna on the trunk
1 700 MHZ antenna on the roof.

The only cars that uses Low Profile or disguised antennas are the investigations and unmarked cars. They have either Quater Mounted antenna, or Euro-Style disguised antenna on the roof, in place of the AM/FM/Sirius OEM antenna (they remove it and either place it inside the roof or just throw it away)

Are the SQ UHF VR frequencies still in use: 454.375/454.550/454.625 plus 459-paired frequencies (total 6)?

I have not heard activity on those for a long time; however SQ service in Gatineau area is limited, covered by Gatineau city and MRC des Collines police.

On that last point, is VR 412.3125 for MRC still in use?
