UNR Police making an expansion to Western Nevada College this summer
Tuesday, January 15th 2019
RENO, Nv
UNR Police are expanding to Western Nevada College in Carson City.
The Board of Regents on the Nevada System of Higher Education tasked UNR Police to expand because they have been successful with other local colleges.
UNR Police have officers on Truckee Meadows Community College and the Desert Research Institute.
There hope is to provide more safety for students on WNC's campus and have services available right on campus.
Todd Renwick, Assistant Director at UNR Police says, “It allows us to provide quality police services to our educational facilities up here in the north. It allows us to network and grow not only as a department but also grows without communities”.
UNR currently has 39 sworn positions and they will move some of their officers to WNC for the expansion.
The expansion is expected to be completed by July 1st.
