when I go for my morning walk I run into this every day.
it is sad to see a fine tower go unused. building vacant
as well.
I wonder how much coax it would take to reach my house?
hmmmmm...........lol

If the building is empty and available, Try to find out what the owner wants for rent or even purchase. If your amateur radio club doesn't have a place to meet or conduct ham license training, it might be a good place to rent or own. Looks like a good antenna to put one or two repeaters on, IMHO.

Around 1400 foot which includes up the tower. Looks like it may belong to #4832 which appears to maybe be occupied. More than likely may belong to the property owner. I like the ham club idea put forth earlier if one could get access to tower that is. 73 Rich

Pshaw! Who needs coax? We have a whole spectrum of RF at our disposal! And lasers, don't forget the lasers!

I got one of my 1.2 meter dishes after a store closed and building for sale or lease.
I called the management company and asked about it. They wanted to re-do the roof and asked me how much I would charge to take down the antenna. "I get the antenna, you pay nothing. " The IDU was abandoned also and got that too along with the small heliax that fed it.
Go price a HugesNet earth station and see what they cost.
I did better though, with an abandoned radio station. Just imagine how many pounds of copper is in a 6 element FM BC antenna and hard line.

I don't know but what I do know is that 25G looks like it's ready to come down... missing top guys and I bet the anchors are scary. No way I'd set foot on that thing!

I agree. Looks like it wasn't maintained, which means the bolts are probably rusty and the tubular sections are probably rusting out from the inside.

Sometimes "free" is way too expensive. Let it fall on its own, no reason for you to be around when it happens.

Maybe they would let you put something up? You could then use remote access to get to it. It doesn't hurt to try. I have the same scenario near me, not that tall of a tower though. I'm working on a remote access, scanner solution, using a Raspberry PI.

2 shots of the guy wire anchors. All anchors are attached
to the building itself. may be 1 that goes to next door
building. the shades are drawn so I can't see much but
it's possible it's being used by the business next door.
Too early to talk to anyone.

I've had my eye on one I pass regularly along my favorite bike trail a few miles from my QTH. Previously licensed tenants (taxi cab co) vacated the premises a number of years back. Have yet to discuss potential purchase with my wife or current tenant, LOL

........ Looks like a really good way to get hurt really good really fast.
Rusted bolts, rust rotted tower sections, questionable guy line attachments---no meaningful tower removal experience......

Talk to a professional tower company and see how much they'd charge to take it down. I think it would be very educational. You might just be surprised how much your broken neck is really worth in dollars and cents.

(btw- OSHA rates tower steeple jacks as ten times more likely to be killed on the job compared to regular construction. ...but boys will be boys !)

Fun reading --bon appetit !
