Has anyone successfully updated firmware on a 996 series radio using LogMeIn or TeamViewer?

I have a couple radios out in the field that I would like to update the firmware on and it would be a lot easier to do it remotely...

Has anyone done the DMR or ProVoice update on a 996P2 or 536 this way?

Thanks!

First, I have done this many times. Works perfect. The remote MUST have the same Teamviewer edition that you have. This means they will have to download and install, so with this, if they don;tr have the software and driver loaded, you can do that from the host machine. Not sure about DMR or Provoice but if it can be downloaded, you can install it . I have remotely installed Uniden files from Mo to Australia.

Have you actually done firmware updates remotely? I have reprogrammed radios this way but haven't tried doing firmware and don't want to get it hosed and require a flight back home to reboot the radio...

FIRMWARE

Anything that can be done from the remote, in person, can be done via the host who dials in remotely. If you need to do a firmware update,. as long as the radio is plugged in, you have control of the computer and updates can be done. I have done cs800 stuff, as well as tyt stuff. If you want to experiment, if you have access to two computers, feel free to do somethings. I have not done remote operations with out the remote station being at the computer to work their radios if needed. Once connections have started, some have left their station while I programmed. A couple of years ago, people mailed theirt radios to me to program. Result was too slow and expensive when compared to remotely logging in with TeamViewer. Most of the time, I am only on line for 30 minutes You can easily do 16 different setups per day. Try a firmware update on a radio in the office, remotely. You will see it works, alittle confidence action.

How do you handle situations where you have to use certain key presses to get a radio into receive mode for updates such as firmware? Many radios require a procedure more than simply turning them on to normal operating status.

Someone has to be there to press buttons, you can download the firmware and files and upload to the radio. Scanners are pretty easy, some radios that you have to hold keys down to get into receive mode, the remote user would have to hold the buttons down.

R-HUB remote support servers

Have you tried updating firmware remotely using tools like on premise R-HUB remote support servers? If yes, let us know.

no

Teamviewer works and have not used any other software since Teamviewer has worked everytime. It allows me to talk to the remote user while I am working with what ever I need on the remote computer. One thing you will have trouble with, is Teamviewer displays on your computer, very small icons of the remote machine.
