As anyone with one of these scanners is aware, there are several systems that the PRO-668 just isn't capable of monitoring (where other scanners are).

ie: GE's Pro-Voice, Motorola's TRBO, ICOM's NXDN to name a few...

Has anybody heard if there will be any kind of software/firmware upgrades (similar to the Whistler scanners) that would allow for the full audio reception of these particular signals and if so what kind of time frame we may be looking at?

If there are enough people willing to pay for the upgraded software perhaps it will come to fruition but if not it may be time to dump the "old" PRO-668 and upgrade to something else.

Whistler scanners do not do ProVoice, only the 436/536. It is unknown whether RS is going to allow a firmware upgrade. The only scanners that will do NXDN as of now are the TRX series from Whistler, and that upgrade is in the future

The only way to monitor P25, ProVoice, DMR and NXDN all four is with a software package called DSD+ and either an RTL dongle or a discriminator-tapped scanner. If you already have a Pro-668, however, you can set the IF output to be sent through the headphone jack (go to Menu then scroll waaaay down to IF Output and select HP). Connect a standard 1/8" audio patch cable to the microphone input of your computer, start up DSD+ and you're able to monitor all of those digital modes.
