Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

My apologies if this has been posted already. Newbie here.

My client will be upgrading from Connect Plus to Capacity Max soon and is currently using a handful of DVU-2 units to interface their MotoTRBO Connect Plus system to an older, but still active, Vertex analog radio system that provides radio coverage outside of the MotoTRBO area. The DVU-2 units are connected directly on the digital side to the XRTs.

Apparently DVU-2 units by Trident are no longer compatible with the Capmax architecture? If this is indeed the case, what's a good, and hopefully direct, replacement unit? I understand that Moto bought out Trident and killed this product line.

thanks for any help you guys can provide for me!

Probably the closest equivalent is going to be an Avtec Console with Outposts to support the VHF radios. The Avtec's can be Wireline to the Cap Max system through the Voice Network Interface Services (VNIS). It that doesn't fit than maybe something built around the JPS RSP-Z2 products with donor control stations at both ends. But as of yet, I don't believe Cap Max has have an open AIS interface so Wireline options are limited.

Worked on many Connect Plus and CapMax systems. I never knew outposts had wireline ..... amazing times we live in. TT

Did I word that wrong -- Avtec Console VPGate and at least one position than add an Outpost to the system and VHF and patch it at the console.
Thank-you for your response. We looked into the Avtec Console option and the licensing fees are apparently going to be six figures or more per year! The client has been using TRBONet for mapping of radio resources, and emergency response dispatch, therefore bringing in another type of console (if I understand correctly) solely for analog radio gateway purposes is going to be cost prohibitive. If I misunderstand the Avtec approach, please let me know.

thanks again,
RonCVE

Even a Level-0 VPG with an Outpost Plus is going to be cost prohibitive/overkill for your needs.
If your CAM will allow you to APB MotoPatch for Capacity Max that would be the best way to go. It would still cost several grand MSRP for the server software, licensing, MCD 5000 RGU but it’s then a direct wireline patch between the CMSS-VRC and MotoPatch-RS / MotoPatch-RS to the RGU. Note that (x4) VRC talkpath licenses are needed per RGU.

Would never depend on TRBONet or SmartPTT in an Emergency response dispatch center. Among other things rather it's a QC-II page, a audio incident dispatch or just the patching capability a "REAL" console like the Avtec seems to me to be a better fit and there are any number of Real consoles sold and supported by NA companies although Avtec is the only one licensed to do Wireline.

In view of the Cost of Cap Max the Console can't be that out of scope. Or can it be.

But that's another issue. I like the suggestion form @IMPRES2 if it's still an option.

Thanks for all the help! We'll be exploring this option.

We have several Emergancy Service Agencies on TRBOnet, some using QC II over A200 SwiftAgents, and on Connect Plus for voice / AVL. We host the server, and have roughly 30 consoles logged in at any one time. Since most consoles today are virtual, it's about the GUI. TRBOnet has proven to be very reliable, if installed and implemented correctly.
