I just got through purchasing a new 32GB Micro SD Card to upgrade from the old & original Micro SD Card that came with my Uniden BCD536HP.

Once I receive it, how do I go about installing it correctly & get my Uniden BCD536HP to recognize it without losing all of my purchased upgrades, data, frequencies etc? I can't seem to find a Youtube video to guide me step by step on exactly how to do this, do it safely & correctly nor anything on RadioReference to guide me on doing this.

Plenty of info here on RR. It has been addressed many, many times.

Keep in mind that a brand new SD card (or a newly formatted card) will not work in your scanner until you use the "Clear User Data" function in Sentinel.

If there is nothing wrong with your present SD card, just copy all of the files from that card over to the new one.

If the present card is not functioning..... connect the scanner to your computer in the "Mass Storage" mode with the new SD card installed.

When connected to your computer, from the top menu in Sentinel, click "scanner", then "clear user data", then check the box that says "display all drives". If the SD card is showing up there, select it and finish the "clear user data" process and then "write" to the scanner from Sentinel to restore your data (assuming you have previously read all of your data from the scanner into Sentinel). Then disconnect the scanner from the computer and let it re-boot.

If the SD card doesn't show up in the step above, try reformatting the card using Windows with a card reader connected to your computer.... best to format using this program if errors continue:

www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

and then go back to the "clear user data" step above.

The paid upgrades are not affected at all by replacing the SD card. There is nothing that the end user can do, in the normal operation of the scanner, that would delete the paid upgrades.

That is good news to know. One less problem to have to worry about or be concerned for with the Memory upgrade to my BCD536HP. Thanks
fxdscon for the info & guidance on my question.

You couldnt find a video?

I think I saw these videos when I was searching but skipped watching or looking at them as for none of them were specifically specified for the BCD536HP that I own & was looking for this info on.

In addition to what he mentioned, if after you format the card, it does not appear, read this image, taken from the manual. You may have to check a box to show all drives.

It looks like the 1st & 2nd video that you posted are more what I was looking for to guide me in the way that I was wanting. The other 3 videos are useless as for I know how to eject & insert/install Micro USB Memory Cards on any scanner including my BCD536HP. ;)

Several Uniden models are very simiilar and if not exactly the same as in the videos, very similar... of course your manual is your bible...

Have you been on this page at all, you'll find lots of good info there as well.. Easier to Read BCD436/536HP Digital Scanner Manual

My apologies fxdscon, I didn't see this sentence you wrote when I replied to that poster saying In addition to what he mentioned, if after you format the card, it does not appear, read this image, taken from the manual. You may have to check a box to show all drives.

I'm sorry... Jen

Yes, I sure did & am going to try this out. I ordered one from Samsung directly on the day that you started that Radio Reference Thread after I read it. (y)

Do yourself a favor and be very careful who you order from, there are a lot of fake cards out there... when you get it, verify it has full capacity, using H2testw don't just assume it's real because looking in finder or windows explorer shows it's what you ordered, they alter the chipset to make it appear to have full capacity.

Your best bet is to purchase from established companies. I use Transcend cards from CDW. Purchasing direct from Samsung, Toshiba, etc. would also be safe. Neither Amazon nor eBay, as well known as they are, would guarantee a good card. Even though they have "buyer protection," it's safer and easier in the long run buying from the others.
