Hopefully this isn't too far off topic. Does anybody know where the United States Army Corps of Engineers Ended up? I suspect it is now P-25, but still VHF high band, but I haven't heard them in ages and the old 163.4125 and 163.4375 are pretty quiet now.

I split this off from the USCG thread since it wasn't related.

USACE are still using their same ol' channels in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento (CA).

With all this Rain in New England, it might be time to confirm my old list.

This morning at 8am the ACOE in MA were up on their 168.3250(110.9) repeater with the daily flow reports for the various dams/waterways in New England.

The Army Corp of Engineers for the Northeast Mississippi area(Tenneesee-Tombigbee waterway, ect.) do not use 163.4375 or 163.4125 anymore. Which at one time, was very active, but no more!

It is my believe, that the use a "satellite system" at this time.

I believe this maybe correct, USAE use to be very active here on the Ohio River but no more also. Their main freqs were 163.025, 165.065 and 163.4137.

Anyone Have Info on Corps of Engineers for Ohio River from Louisville west?

Used to hear them on 163.4125, 163.4375, and 163.0250 each morning several years ago when I lived and worked in Kentucky.

Haven't heard them in a long time when I back home.

I hear them give out "emergency calls" on 157.100 for the Tenneesee and Ohio rivers and others. I think, they also do this, for the Cumberland river that runs through Nashville.

You probably already knew this, though.

it's funny, i was driving downtown milford, connecticut today and i saw an F-350 pulling a Army Corps of Engineers boat, it wasn't to big, but it had like a little cabin in the center of the boat where the steering wheele is and it was printed on the side, i wonder where they were going?

Fishing?
I listen to the local rangers on 165.0375/pl 103.5. Always busy when camping season gets underway. Oh, Lake Lanier in GA.

My dad retired from the Corps as a surveyor. Rode around in a jet boat and sometimes a helicopter to do benchmarks ahead of dam construction on the Snake and Columbia waterways. They use whatever works to get the job done.

I tracked down a USACE repeater in SoCal today. Probably boring because the output is already well known. The input might be new info? Not sure on that one...

Output 163.4375 (PL 131.8)
Input 165.1875 (PL 103.5 or 110.9)

Just one of the dams reporting their status had a PL of 110.9, everybody else was PL 103.5.

yup
Heard 22 Jan 2010 from Boston Mass area

148.60 - signal strength was 3 bars out of 5 bars - PL 127.0 - "Blackwater" gave report on water flow and levels - Net controller was also heard

168.125 - signal strength was also 3 bars out of 5 bars - PL 110.9 - "Everett" gave report on water flow and levels - Net controller was also heard

Net Control usually calls himself "Reservoir Control" IIRC - I believe they are physically located in Concord Mass on Virginia Road near Hanscom AFB

US ACOE Blue Marsh Reservoir in PA still uses VHF for ranger and maintenance comms.

163.43750 RM 203.5 PL ACOE BluMrsh Blue Marsh Lake Park Operations FM Federal
165.11250 RM 203.5 PL ACOE BluMrsh Blue Marsh Lake Park Operations FM Federal

Years ago, when I was in college, I toured the Tioga Hammond Lakes facility in northern PA for a geology class. At that time, it appeared as though that facility was participating in an HF net to report water levels and flood info...although this was prob 12 years ago now.

Info was submitted to the database previously that the ACOE Pittsburgh District uses 163.025 for reservoir control. I've never been out that way to confirm.
