Unfortunately James quite a few online list are out of date, so you have to be careful what you look at.

So to help you out (shhhh don't tell anyone about this), yesterday I posted to the Milcom Monitoring Post blog my latest list of USCG freqs (including some new UHF milair that have not been reported before). This list is based on actually turning on a radio and monitoring (totally new concept). These freqs are all nationwide assignments. You can see the freqs and the accompanying story (including video) at
http://mt-milcom.blogspot.com/2008/04/us-coast-guard-and-mississippi-river.html

You will also find a up-to-date and complete list of VHF Marine freqs (some are used by the Coast Guard) in the online Monitoring Times magazine Reference Library at
http://www.monitoringtimes.com/html/mtmarvhf.html

Good luck and good hunting.

Thanks Larry, No if we can figured out the transition from LANT to CG and get folks to listen and report, which Sectors/Stations are using which channel, up-n-down the Coast.

This is what I have monitored in the past not sure if all is still the same but Philly still uses 81A.

USCG International Distress & Calling 156.8000 CH16
USCG Liason & Weather/Safety Reports 157.1000 CH22A
USCG Activities Baltimore 157.1500 CH23A
USCG Sector Delaware Bay (MSO Philadelphia) 157.0750 CH81A
USCG Auxillary District 5 Net 157.1250 CH82A
USCG Sector Delaware Bay (Air Station Atlantic City) 157.1750 CH83A

Iam gonna guess and say 21A is used by the USCG on the Jersey Beaches???

USCG Auxillary District 5 Northern RX 143.2800 PL100.0

I have heard activity on 162.1250 and 162.3250 P25 ENC/Clear last year but was not able to confirm if it was the USCG

I "Googled" again, and found this also. = *** "I've also received information that the 171.4375 MHz frequency is used as a federal interop channel in the Philadelphia area. It is referred to as the "FIO" channel. ***

Just like women. Same - same ; two peas in a pod. Like detectives walking on the interstate, location of a bad car accident ; riped fuel line; with their holsters positioned at a 45 degree angle on the front right side of their body. Cops with silver / gold pens sticking out of their shirts so some perp can take it away and stab them with it ( Officer survival - looks can Kill ;). Protect your pistol :) ). Special Ops / HRT / Emergency Services ( NYPD ) at a bridge entrance ; of a night, in tactical mode. Special ops t-shirts , camo pants and all. Humph...TV folks. Co-ordinating agencys most likely will have a rep for mutual-aid, and most of this stuff is agreed upon and set before an event / incident ever sets in. Encrypted phones - encrypted email - and lets us not forget... NEXTEL ( U.S Secret Service )

I would say that the coasties also have access to the " Federal Inter-agency" freqs to coordinate with FBI - Customs in the event of disaster - emergency - pursuit or Coast Guard Law Enforcement needs to communicate with Federal Agents. So go to "WIKI" and get the Federal Interagency freqs and put them in also. Encryption? Maybe....Maybe not. Would not hurt to punch them in to your scanner.

"Close Call" and "Signal Stalker" would be of use in your area. With the diversity of state and federal agencys, it would be a shame not to have it.

It's all history. Nothing has changed. Even the Government sometimes is predictable.

Do not forget to search 407 - 408 MHZ ; 417-420 ; and 163-165 >>>> all of whom I have found active in the past..regardless of if you can hear it or not. Sometimes you can pick up a non-encrypted transmission.

Hope this helped............ FF - Medic !!!!!

138.4750, 142.8250, 143.4750, 149.2000, and 150.7000R

Nice work Chris, amazing tho how fast folks COPY
instead of trying to monitor them locally first. :(

The NorthEast [New England and NY/NJ] can't be the only area actively using them, but alas no one wants to share or SEARCH

I live in the Baltimore area and search almost daily for USCG Frequencies and only ever hear them in the Marine Band. I am going to try to go to the area of the Baltimore Sector to see if I can catch anything in close call. I search but can never find anything to share.

Maybe it's a New England thing, but around 7a-7:30a the small boats all sign-on with Sector Boston or Sta. Pt Allerton on VHF Marine, then switch to CG-08 for a radio test.

Best time to catch them. Or if you have an LNG Escort.

All USCG Aux repeaters will use 149.200 as the input to 150.700 as the output with typically the same PL for both. In the NYC/LI/Hudson River area, they use different PLs to cover each smaller area with a tiny bit of overlap, but they are not linked together.

The "brown water Coast Guard" uses pretty much exclusively the marine band channels in the 157 MHz. range. Check at 9 p.m. central time for one of the river reports. It goes on for several minutes and you shouldn't have any trouble finding them. They use about 5 frequencies in this range and all of them are listed in the latest Monitoring Crimes.

Division 4 1SR AUXNET drills will be held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 2030 hours on the Sewaren repeater

Can a few folks listen on the 1st & 3rd and see if this is the Reproted NYC 131.8 Hz Rptr, or if there is a diffeent Tone.

Thanks
