Not just scanners but since all the consumer electronics went to USB charging I have been resoldering and hot gluing the connectors back onto the pc boards.

I had G&G Communications repair my PSR-800 USB connection. The constant plugging and unplugging causes cracks in the frail connector on the PC board. This is a common issue with all brands of scanners using USB. G&G made a recommendation to me which I have accepted. Bought a 6" USB pigtail which plugs into the radio. Then plug the main USB cord into the pigtail. This takes all the stress off the connector at the radio.
