Using dual band wifi antenna for scanner?

Realize it's way off freq as in higher than 800 MHz but I suspect it might work?

It would be fine to try it out on your scanner, but I wouldn't hold out hopes for it working very well. Very strong/close signals will probably be picked up just fine (as they would on a paperclip) but the extremely short electrical length of the bands that antenna is designed for don't bode well for great results on the scanner bands.

RP-SMA is a "reverse polarity" SMA connector. It's not going to play well with your scanner without an adapter.

And as the others said, it'll "work", but not work well, unless you really want to listen in on 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz.
I wouldn't pay for one, but if you've got one laying around and the correct adapter, you could certainly give it a try. There really are better antennas out there.
