How may are using SDR's for aircraft monitoring and if so, how well do they perform?

I'm thinking the SDRplay RSPduo would be ideal. It could function as a dual watch monitor for arrival and departure frequencies. Or scan both VHF commercial or UHF military bands at the same time!

I do. I get some ACARS too. Not close enough to any TCAs for RX but get some airborne stuff.
(RX888mkII fed with discone.)
I know others use dual SDRs, I only have one fast port.

Depends on the SDR. I use BCT'8's for civil airband, both with the same frequencies but split into bands and an Icom R7000 so I can listen to individual sectors and get good coverage from a discone and multiplexer.
