Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

hello there,

I was wondering if there was a trick when using tuner? Years ago I would use this software to
tweak radios, but I did it buy ear using a constant data channel. Now, when i use it I don't hear
any sound,. I have tried checking mute, internal and external under the sound with no difference.

I find it more difficult to tweak using the RSSi value when it fluctuates for 1 to 12 etc.

thanks in advance,

I am not sure how to hear the audio of the conventional channel I am tunning in.

tweaking xts2500/5000s with tuner

I always take a photo pic of the values first just in case things get messed up.,

i would prefer to do the tuning by ear instead of fluctuating RSSI values. I use CPS astro tuner.

cheers

You need a service monitor to do this correctly. Without a digital service monitor how can you 'tweak' the softpots and verify BER? Have your radio aligned by a competent technician and be done with it.

The RSSI values don't jump around when you have a service monitor injecting the signal.

Had to re-read this on several times since most digital radios can be aligned with an analog monitor...just can't see the data streams and BER. I.E. my mind processed it as a digital monitor is required to align the radio...

Unless one is trying to do it...wireless.

The alignment isn't 'complete' until you have set the idle current, done the full alignments and verified the BER is within tolerance. Otherwise, just you a Baofeng as a signal generator.....;)
