A Utica man is facing charges for allegedly making threatening radio transmissions on a channel used by law enforcement.

The feds need to resume serious enforcement of existing FCC rules. They can start by busting the hams and preppers who brag about having a transceiver programmed for public safety frequencies "just in case".

You don't need a Motorola radio and CPS. A $20 Baofeng from Amazon can cause even more havoc since it is front panel programable and 10 Watt!

I will FOREVER blame the influx of cheapy, Chinese radios as a major contributor to that problem and that's why I refused to own one for so many years. I caved and purchased one for testing since they were practically giving them away on Prime Day. Protestors were jamming NYPD Citywide during large scale demonstrations you could hear the baofeng roger-beep

Not sure if you're aware, but NYS DHSES has plenty of RDF resources. That's how they found him the first time.
