I will be traveling to Ocean Isle -NC for 10 days (leaving early AM) Saturday. I will Have my "Gig-Bag" loaded with a few Radios-(against my wife's wishes) and wanted to make sure I'm set.
Will be bringing along:
Whistler WS=1088-Programmed with Brunswick County Sites per RR
Unication G5 (Phase 1 and 2)-with VHF
I have the G5 programmed with a Viper site-(Brunswick County/Supply)
And Horry County-SC- as we might venture there.
Ill bring along a laptop to make any changes to the G5
I will also have a DMR Dual Band HT along with my Hotspot.
Are the local life guards in the area on the Supply site or are they conventional VHF/UHF?
I am planning to use the WS-1088 mostly with the conventional stuff and keep the G5 on P25.

Any pointers? Tips?

Thank You!!!

Ocean Isle will mostly just be NC VIPER (Supply/Pea Landing sites) - P25 Phase 1. VHF (and UHF) fire paging is fairly weak here near Holden Beach. You won't find alot on conventional channels for public safety.

You may get Horry SC (P25 Phase 1) and possibly Palmetto (also Phase 1).

You can program some Horry DMR (hotels, beach stuff, etc.) but you won't find much DMR in Brunswick.

Brunswick Transit is NXDN - not alot to listen to.

A stretch - you might get New Hanover County if right on the water.

Thank you Troymail!!
I'll probably Wildcard Horry County at first
I do have Talk groups for the Viper Supply site.
Not sure which ones will be encrypted so the laptop will come in handy if I come across some.
Looking forward to some dryer weather down your way. I'm just outside Lynchburg VA.
We had some epic flooding yesterday evening here-and the G5 never skipped a beat.
I had 4 other scanners going and they were non stop.
Thanks Again for your input!

That's good to know about the Viper Sites.
I may put New Hanover in a zone on the G5 as well but just Fire EMS as I see your comment.
We won't be dragging this rain down there with us.
We had 5” to 7” of rain here already since yesterday afternoon.

Ocean Isle and Sunset beach do not have Life Guards. I'm pretty sure the rest of the beaches in B.C. also do not have Life Guards. Sunset Beach has a Town Beach Patrol . They can be monitored on 154.3475.
