What an unassuming name for an antenna! Especially one that works so well. I received mine today from Amazon Prime at a shipped cost of $9.99. With the name of the antenna, the price and the 3 or 4 negative reviews I saw on Amazon I wasn't expecting much. In fact I carefully opened the envelope so I could use it to return the antenna. Wow, was ever in for a surprise!
As soon as I turned the scanner on I knew I had found something special. Distant signals were clear with a low noise floor. Plus the finish and construction of the antenna were very nice and the opposite of what a couple of the reviews claimed. Far from "flimsy" as one review claimed this antenna is well built, another review claimed about a loose joint, again far from reality. Perhaps the manufacturer took some of the negative reviews as constructive criticism and acted on the advice and improved the antenna.
Valley Enterprises claims a frequency range of .3Khz to 2.8 Ghz. Collapsed the antenna stands 4" above the BNC or 4.75" with the BNC and fully extended it is 17.5"
In any case this antenna outperformed the stock rubber ducky and the following aftermarket antennas for my type of listening: Comet BNC W100RX, Diamond RH 77CA, and the Radio Shack Telescoping center loaded antenna.
My next door neighbor, also a forum member here, has 2 of the Pro-651's as well. He has had more experience with aftermarket antennas than I have so I called him up after receiving the antenna and asked him if he would like to take a look. The first thing he did was tune to a trunked system P25 phase 1 in Glendale, one town over, which is notoriously hard for us to bring in clearly. His face lit up with enjoyment as soon as he heard the transmissions. Then when he heard the price he asked me to order 5 copies for him. One for each of his radios and a backup.
YMMV but for my listening and radios I am very, very happy. I still enjoy the Watson W801 but for value this little gem is tough to beat.
