We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

I have a JVC portable Model FR-6600 JW. It is in perfect cosmetic and
operating condition. Does anyone know what it is worth?
Thanks.

A quick google search turned up very little, but I did find a Craigslist posting of one for sale for $225. I'm not familiar with the radio myself, but that would seem reasonable. I collect vintage and antique radios, and it's rare to see a portable of any kind go for much more than that.

Check with Universal Radio if you are thinking of possibly selling it.

They seem to get top dollar for hard-to-find transistorized SW radios. They have a historcal listing of what their used radios have sold for including details and good pictures. There are not JVC radios listed, so it is tough to tell from that. Is it possible that it is a re-branded model from another manufactuer like kenwood, Panasonic(national) or maybe even magnavox?

I have a 1994 Passport to the world at home, so if it was avaliable in the early 90s it would be in there. I'll check it tonight.

What does this radio have for features? can you post pics of it?
