• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, I was not sure where to post this, just taking a chance someone has used this equipment.

I have two VEGA IP223 that im using to convert 4wire audio to ethernet data and back. So i am by no means am i using this equipment to its full capacity. All i want to do is make a 4 wire circuit over ethernet.

Setup will be Zetron 4048 EDACS console using tone card. (so basic tone remote) from zetron to IP223 radio 1, this converts to 4wire to ethernet over our network. Ethernet comes into IP223 on far end converts back to 4wire. From there out to a CPI tone remote board. to EDACS 500M radio.

Basic tone operation 2175 gaurd tone 1950 function tone and it will key the radio, but not everytime. I have checked set and reset levels. they are good.

The IP223 will do 16 functions, if i put out a 1650 from the console the IP223 will generate its own 1650 and send it to the far end. that is the problem. Some where in the ethernet path the 1650 gets changed, or so the far end thinks so, as it will RX a totally different function tone. I thought this would be in level setting or RX AGC but its not. The only way I could get these units to work in the first place was to have them both configed to TONE. tech support say the one at the Zetron has to be set to Console mode and the far end to Tone mode. Tried this and no luck.....not much luck with Tech support..

anyone using this product to make 4wire over ethernet that could share some programming secrets?????

thanks all

Saw your message from 1-27; have you had any resolution?

I've worked a little bit (very little) with the JPS NXU-2's; the audio level setup on each end seems to be quite critical; I suspect it is here too. What are the exact levels coming out of the Zetron 4048? And how are you checking your levels? What kind of test equipment?

Thanks for the relpy, I actually got this working yesterday. I found that the levels on the Zetron tone card where not hot enough...measuring right off the punch block with line man...needed -7dbm to open vega....but there was one other major setting I was missing...that was reprogramming the tone card to "custom tone" and setting the time duration to match the CPI panel on the far end..it now works.....Now I have 7 pair left to put in...

thanks

Ip223

Great news.

& what is the -7dBm level from the Zetron? Is that the Function tone level?

So how do you like the IP223? Troubles? Joys? Oddities in the setup?

I'm intrigued by the fact that there are 2 channels per box;

Chuk
