Probably been mentioned a "million" times ? I use ram for 'bout everything. While I have one I do not recommend their universal HP1 type mount.

Use a RAM base with Uniden's mobile mount.

I've even mounted full size (870 and such) by opening up and bolting a RAM ball to the back.

Yea i kind of figure it might had been through the wash cycle a couple times but with new HP-1 Owners that come on here they have a chance to see the good of the Product..

And thanks for passing the info on which one to go with phask.. Ra

RAM is excellent. I've been using the same mount for various things for years. Excellent quality and they stand behind their products. I use a universal mount for my HP1 only because the fine people at Scanner Master made a pick error. Rather than sending me the actual mount for the HP1 they send me a GPS for it instead. I love pick errors in my favor. They opted to let me keep the GPS. The universal mount is good, but I would suggest getting the actual mount for the unit, the buttons on the top will be more accessible.

The one i kind of thought was a Neat and how it worked was the Mount that attaches to the Rear View Mirror but then i thought about the weight and in Hot Days if rear Views Tab that is attached to Glass lets go as they sometimes do the Rear Mirror and scanner is coming Down ward and the hit might not be pretty..

Anyone use RAM and ProClip to compare?

Here is a link:
http://www.proclipusa.com/

I'm a satisfied customer. I use a tilt & swivel mount with a quick release to switch between an iPhone and an Hp-1. Mounts go on easily, feel secure and so far show no signs of loosening with age...

I have similar on 2 vehicles, use for GPS or GPS / HP1 or just HP1. They are not the plastic of Pro Clip . Some vibration depending on vehicle and weight but a good product. Ones have have are older style that are metal and screw on.

I've used RAM mounts in personal vehicles and my fire department's trucks for years. One of the more useful setups for me is the "no drill" mount for various electronics like laptops or radios. You can get either a frame that is designed for your vehicle, or use a custom design built from malleable metal poles - both of these are designed to fit over the floor pan bolts for your passenger seat. You unbolt the seat, put the mount plate (or pole) down with the holes lined up, and bolt the seat down again.

Hey Guys thanks for the Positive feedback on these mounts i was impressed by the Number of mounts they Make and there Made here in the States i viewed a couple Youtube videos on them and it is really neat how you can adjust them to just about any to your Needs).

I wished they had some kind of Mount for the 396 i'm sure there is something i just haven't stumbled on it Yet. But when i get a Home patrol again i have a couple of the Mounts in mind i would really like to Try..

I have had a mount by Pro-Fit in my vehicle the last 8 years, first to hold a 250, then a 396, and more recently both a GPS and Cell Phone (I mounted a RH96 in an available space in my dash) No drilling, just loosen two bolts and install mount.

Alas the vehicle I will soon be getting does not have a mount from them yet, so I will be using a ProClip mount for the phone (and the vehicle has built in GPS, so I won't need the external unit). I haven't decided how I am going to mount the scanner yet, but it may come from any one of the three vendors.

Does RAM have no drill mounts that attach to dash or consoles?

From what I saw, the RAM mounts required drilling or sticking on the dash...

When i was Looking at there Units that Fit Between the Seats in like the Chevy Tahoe it Looked like all that needed to be done was unbolt the Seat set the Unit in Place bolt the Seat back down on top of it).

And they looked like a really nice Unit but i bet they cost a Stinker of a Price to buy one but if one could be bought i bet the Radios would look really Good in them..

On my Honda's, I've used base mounts from ProClip (Device Holders and Dashboard Vehicle Mounts*-*ProClip Car Mounts for Mobile Phones, Tablet, and Handheld Devices) to which I've attached a RAM 1" ball. The ProClip mounts allow you to mount without drilling holes, and are removable without damage.

I've experimented with various arms, and have even incorporated various RAM EZY-Mount Quick Release adapters. This allows me to easily switch between my various radios and a GPS unit based on what I need/want and any point in time.

The Uniden Mount for the HP-1 works well with the various RAM products.

The mass of the HP-1 is large enough that you do get some shake on the longer RAM arms when I hit bumps. The ProClip base(s) are ok, but aren't as "solid" as a screw mount (there's a little more shake then I'd like), and is more of a problem with the mass of the HP-1, but its acceptable.
