Ver 1.34 & PPS 4.0 ????

So I was talking to someone today who is very in the know about Unication goings on and he told me the following reasons for 1.34 & 4.0 coming out now
He said that before 1.34, you could buy a pager, downgrade it to 1.10, add DMR, and then upgrad the pager back to 1.3X
Once Unication found this out they put in the works to release a firmware that would stop this from being able to be done.
I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but reading posts on here after people found 1.34 was bad, they tried to go back to 1.33 and could not, so that adds a little Hmmmm to it
Again itit's person saying this but there are some clues that it might be true.

Im not saying Unication is doing anything wrong, Motorola, Harris, and all the others are locking down radios more and more to squeeze out the most they can from sales, so its the norm for the industry, IMO when they added the DMR ability and gave it out free for a while, when they ended the free upgrade, it would have been better to just raise the price of the pager $15 and include it, that way you make $15 from every pager sale instead of $25 from some of the sales

You can go from 1.34 to 1.10 without issue. I've done it. But you can't go from 1.34 to 1.33. but there is a way to go back to 1.33 and that is to downgrade to 1.10 then upgrade back to 1.33 but save your profile before you do because once you downgrade to 1.10 it will erase your profile from the pager. Downgrading firmware is not how you add DMR. You have to have the DMR utility file to add DMR. You're right it does suck on what Unication did with DMR to offer it for a minute a while back so owners at the time could get if free. Now if anyone buys new or used they have to pay for something that's already in the radio to use it or because the previous owner didn't do it if it was available when it was free.

That's interesting, i can see where they would not want to loose money.
I do like the idea of just adding $15 to the price and giving DMR with every pager, we would get DMR and they would make more money.
I for one have been using the 4.0 software for 6 weeks now and really like it, just waiting for 1.35 to come out to fix 1.34

That's why I downgraded back to 1.33. How did you get the 4.0 PPS when it just went on their site the other day or are you using the beta version.

They have been putting it out on a Facebook page for people to beta test it as they put out new versions. I download 4.0 a few months ago and just never used it, I just started 6 weeks ago and should have been using it for months, its very good

As for DMR, the DMR programmer only works with 1.10 so a downgrade would be needed, but I have DMR in all 4 of mine.
I might try the downgrade then upgrade to 1.33, thanks for the trick, I only did 2 pagers but I do see some issues so it might be worth it
Im sure if I do they will come out with 1.35 the next day LOL

That's what thought the beta version on Facebook I seen that. But the Op want to put DMR on his so I was telling him how to downgrade and you have to have the DMR utility which you can't get to add it and how they handled it.
