The Device Manager Port Settings really have no use. You want the software baud rate to match the scanner baud rate.

can you please tell me how to change i did look and see no setting on either
I don't have those models but looking at the manual, I don't see a baud rate setting so I suspect it's a fixed baud rate. Perhaps others can chime in on why your D/L is slow.

I still stand on my posting that the Device Manager port settings don't do anything so I wouldn't focus on that.

trying to download database to computer
So it has nothing to do with the scanner and ports then? Only downloading from Whistlers server thru your network down to your PC? It can be Whistlers server that are slow at the moment or your network that are slow, perhaps it is a FTP transfer and that will use other protocols than HTTP web access and your network service supplier could have a slow file transfer speed when using FTP.

Ive looked in the forums as well in the past, the ARC products are just turtle slow!

For the Pro 106/197/651/652, whistler 1040,1065 I use PSREdit500 and it only takes I'm guessing 15 seconds to do while sending usually 95-99% of the maximum 1,852 main memory on the scanner and 20 scanlists(banks). Download PSREdit500
If you haven't paid for the arc yet, use PSREdit500! (Made in the U.S.A) Has a free trial period as well, install it at least to compare.
In the IMPORT section of PSREdit500 it does have the ability to import Arc500 files so you wouldn't need to start from scratch.

I have arc96 and arcxt. but not arc500. While arc96 for the old pro 96/2096 doesn't take too long since there isnt as much those can handle, its seems slow.
The ARCxt on my 996P2 will take 55 minutes! Sending some 7,500 frequencies, talkgroups and 81 quickkeys (banks).
Only reason I use acrxt is that it can handle DMR, otherwise honestly I cant stand it!

Now on the 396XT/996XT with freescan and minus ~70 DMR stuff will only take at best say 3 minutes!

Using same computer a Dell XP15 windows 10.

Newtothis would you be able to attach your programming file to a reply message so we can see if something there has an issue?

Yes I fully agree with Imonitor, in my reply anyways all I meant on different software is using the same file to compare one speed to another is all.

The butel softwares all do work with what they are intended to do successfully for many years :) , even own two of the products. What I can say though maybe it is a good opportunity to improve on the speed side of things (y). The OP saying only 2 scanlists worth all be it probably shouldnt be too long,

its very slow never let it finish and i have maybe 1 and 2 banks with channels what else should i look at
Sounds like either a problem with the cable, the scanner, or the PC (USB interface or driver issue). It should take less than a minute.

I've never timed it, but I think ARC500 takes less time to write to my Pro-651 than ProScan does to write to a BCD996P2. (I do erase and re-write the 996.)
