• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,

I have a VM7000 (VHF and UHF) decks. It was working fine until I did a firmware update and not when I power on I get the Viking Logo and then Error Radio Failure on a Red Screen. I have checked all the connections and everything is good. It is also not discoverable any longer on my PC via USB.

Thank you for the help!

Is this a dual deck configuration? Connect the Primary deck to the laptop, then push and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds. It kind of does a "soft reset" and gets it out of the loop. Then reload firmware starting with the primary deck then secondary. I have had to do this on a few VM7s. I would assume the same soft reset works on the dash mount to but haven't had to do it there yet

Hello, Yes Dual Deck (VHF = Primary Deck). I just tired this and no luck, power on KCH-20RV (hold power button for 15-20) seconds, still get the same error. Secondary Deck is disconnected. Any other ideas?

How did you do the firmware update first of all, step by step. Let's start there first.
