Viking VP600 Non-Affiliate Scan?

Hello!,

I've been checking around and have found some good deals on VP600's in 700-800 with Phase 2 trunking on them. I couldn't find anything on the VP600's, but I found out that at least some of Kenwood's new radios are not truly NAS capable, and (Like any Motorola) you'd have to trick the radio into doing it. Knowing this, I figured that the VP600 would be the same story, but with it being a different product line, I just wanted to make sure it was not capable of a true non-affiliate scan.

Afaik it will NAS like Motorolas will but you will not be able to get a key to program the system in so it'll be impossible unless you get the system key from a system admin.

Yup, no valid A-Key no system for you! Unlike other vendors who have compromised warez and key gens, A-Keys are only given to system owners with letter of authorization to JVC Kenwood and only come from JVC Kenwood. So, go over to ZipScanners and buy yourself an SDS. LOL.

NO Kenwood radio will work for NAS, on any type of trunked system (either P25 or NXDN). Don't even think about it.

Vikings will NAS using a RWS list (W3AXL documents this) but not without an actual system key which is impossible for almost everyone

Kenwood labled Viking radios (Kenwood hardware, EFJ firmware) are the exception to that. Still need the system key though.

I thought that was only with the latest models and firmware. Not the older VP600/900 like they are referring to.

It's any radio that support RWS which includes the 6.18.x release of the 5x00ES radios.
