Gentlemen,

Just getting back from a vacation in the Blue Ridge, Georgia area....

While I was down in the area, I had some playtime with the Laptop and DSD+ and was able to get a bit of updated VIPER information (I believe) for the Western portion of your great State....but, I may need some help getting things sorted out; due to the fact; that this system is not a "familiar" one for me...

First off, I believe the Chunky Gal Gap site (2.24) may be completely incorrect, as listed in the DB here....

DSD+ reports this site as follows:
BSI = WQRW897
853.0375 (CC)
854.4625 (sCC)
855.9625
856.2625
858.4875

NL: 2.40, 2.52, 2.67 & 2.89

Secondly,

caught CC traffic from the Joanna Bald site (2.52)....
DSD+ reported back a Neighbor List that had a site 2.72 using 853.4750....

Searched the VIPER site list for that and couldn't find it. So, I searched out the 853.4750 frequency on the FCC website and found this:

North Carolina State Highway Patrol
WQSM447
Potato Knob, Bryson City, Swain County, NC
851.4750
852.050
852.425
852.775
853.225
853.475

Possible new site for the List?

Was going through thomasville today. Snapped this pic of the new tower at the golf course. Looks like they’ve hung quite a bit of stuff on it since I went through there last.

Good morning Viper Gurus, living in Ashe county which transmits on VHF. Other than the assigned TG's for Ashe county what other TG's would you suggest to program in for Viper?

You could do Highway Patrol for your area which I believe is Troop 4 District 2, along with the statewide event channels, maybe neighboring counties if you want to listen in

In addition to what @drayd48 has suggested, I would suggest (depending on your listening choices) the VCROAM & VCPOOL channels, MAMA and Landing Zones 51579-51584 TGs, NCDPS Dist 23 51647 & prisons statewide 51679-51687, DPRR channels, State EMOC and HART 51939-52010, SHPSOSHQ (SHP special ops TG) 52222, SBI, and the fed talkgroups. Not all of them are active on a regular basis but when they are they have some interesting comms.

I've heard/seen that several times, and not totally sure, but was leaning towards unassigned/loaner radios based on the past times I've seen it (only seen on event talkgroups).

Does anyone have a .kml or .kmz file of the VIPER transmitter sites? I would like to get one to overlay on Google Earth Pro.
Radio Reference has an online map to view but no means to download.
