Decided to get myself another sds200 . They keypad is definitely brighter . anyone else notice the newer sds200 keys being brighter . Also if I click the volume button 3 times it toggle low medium and high then goes dark . my first sds200 doesn’t do this , normal if not what’s the settings so it will do that ? I tried setting my first sds200 to do what the new one does pertaining to the volume button controlling the screen brightness . Thoughts?

The low/medium/high presets in Display Settings probably aren't the same.

If all the presets are set to the same brightness, that's what will happen. Did you check that?

If you're absolutely sure both units are programmed identically, the the one may have a defective clicker switch on the volume encoder.

In Sentinel/Edit Profile/Display Options...lower right corner...Dimmers (change default settings): I have mine set: Low (10%)..Medium (40%)...High (100%). I'm not sure if you were on the same page as jon?

Yeah same firmware . I’m thinking the volume button is faulty. The new ads200 has click to the volume Button where as the first sds200 pushes in but doesn’t click . If this makes sense . Thing is I never knew I didn’t until the new sds200 arrived . The first one has been in the same place since out of box . No falls no access to those to mess with it . Thanks for the reply’s . I’ll call Uniden get a new volume knob

Yep, you should be able to feel a physical click or snap when pushing the volume control in. You should also hear it so it sounds like your first 200 does have a bad control.

Both of mine change low-med-high with volume button click, but the numerical keypads stay the same (both are very visible in low light conditions). The optional settings only affect the display screen brightness.

If the display brightness only changes when the volume control is all the way up, you have a bad volume encoder.
