Hello
I am unable to raise the volume level more than level 10 before the audio becomes muffled and non understandable. Doesn't matter if its analog or digital.
Just wondered if anyone else has had this issue.
Still have time to return it
Thanks

it sounds like the speaker might be blown on the device itself, hook it up to a pair of speakers with the aux cord and see if that fixes the issue, if not it also could be a problem with the analog signal itself and the way it is transmitted.

First step is to see if that happens with headphones or a pair of amplified speakers.

The jack on a 436 is NOT a speaker jack, it is a stereo headphone jack, and does not allow the full power of the audio amp through. If you plug a mono plug into the jack, or ground any wires connected to the jack, you will short out part of the audio and get distortion and audio artifacts from the amplifier complaining about having its output overloaded. When doing an external speaker test, run the scanner on battery power, or use a ground loop isolator between the scanner and speakers.

Yep thats what I did and can turn the volume up to max with the external speaker and sounds perfect.
Only had the scanner for a few weeks, Will send it back.
Thanks
