Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have my VX-3200 programmed with three groups. Is there a way I can program the scan feature to scan an individual group and also do a "group scan" so I can scan all channels in all groups? I can with my VX-800 but can't figure out how to do so with the VX-3200.

It's been a while since I have messed with a VX-3200. Great radio by the way. Try seeing if there is a difference when you push the scan button versus hold it down. I might have my models mixed up, but I think if you just push the scan button, it will scan within the zone you are in, but if you push and hold down the scan button for like a second or so, it will put it into group scan.

Try that out. Good luck.

Thanks, but no go. I have the button programmed for Scan A/D so maybe I'll try to re-program the button to just scan and see if that will work. The Scan A/D adds and deleted the channel from the scan list when you hold it down. Worth a try!

Boy, I wish my memory was a bit better, and the only VX-3200 I have is locked up in semi-retirement in our fleet shops. I had it in my work truck for a couple of years, and loved it. The only reason I got rid of it was it wasn't compatible with a patch device I got, so it had to go.

I deal with a lot of radios of numerous models and brands, so my memory gets skewed a lot. But I thought to adjust the scan list you had to hold down the scan button while turning the radio on, but maybe that was just the FTL series. I dunno. Or maybe that is the case if you don't have a button assignment for scan A/D. Try to reassign that button to scan and see what happens.

Well, I've tried everything I can think of and I've come to the conclusion it can't be done! Decided to scan by group and just re-entered a couple freqs in different banks so it'll work fine.

Well glad you found a workaround. The only thing I can think of you might try at some point in the future is to see if it will take "scan" as a short press, and then "group scan" as a long press on the same button. I currently have some VX-454's that are programmed this way. A short press lets you scan the group you are in, and a long press lets you scan all the groups (that you have stuff enabled in your scan list for). I have a separate button on them which is assigned as "Scan A/D". Good luck.

Did you try just selecting the channels that you want to scan? If I'm remembering correctly, if you only select channels in one bank, it just scans that bank, and then as you add channels from other banks, it scans across all of them checking the channels you've selected.
