Walmart stores usually use VHF Itinerant frequencies, 151.6250, 154.5700, 154.6000. Some stores use PL tones, others CSQ. Just put these frequencies in your scanner, and search the VHF band if these are not the ones used. If your scanner has close call, just go shopping and see what you can find at the store, since the grocery department may use a different frequency than the retail store.

It is a frequency finder found on Uniden Scanners BC296T, BR330T, and BCD396T, and a similar search program on the Radio Shack Pro-97, that will notify you of nearby transmissions that the scanner will capture (sorry, no cell phones).

Have you even considered that many businesses are using Nextel and celluar telephones in lieu of radio systems of past?

I thought about that..But I know for fact that wal mart uses radio's, I see them on them and hear them on them everytime I'm in there and I know that roto rooter uses them, I'm right across the street from them and have been in the office and can see the tower/antenna. Unless they have a radio patch or something they must not..

Entergy has a LOT of licenses in Arkansas (550!), but for those close to you, assuming you're near Paragould, this is pretty much the nearest set of what looks to be a trunking 800 MHz system, in Rector, AR.:

Some Wal Marts are now using NXDN digital HT's, and thus all you get is a digital growl. Most Supercenter's use a set of up to three VHF freqs with various PL tones for each ops section. example: 154.5700 CSM's 123.0 Dock 127.3 etc...

Entergy uses a Motorola Type II analog TRS.. See the DB for info... Once you find the Site nearest you, and learn how to ID the site number etc, please do submit the info... The Entergy System is my lil pet project and I am always looking for new data.

Centerpoint Arkansas uses UHF, Satallite MDT's, and has a few 800 MHz licenses, though I never heard any coms ever on any of the conventional freqs. They primarily use the MDT's and cell phones. BellSouth also has quit using conventional radios in MOST areas.
