I'm so confused on how to be able to listen to WSP D4, I live in the area and see WSP all the time. Would they be on the spokane freq? I would imagine that all of the analog freqs are either no longer in use or only used when talking to other agencies in the area. I've tried listening to the anolog freq and I haven't heard a single thing. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Washington State Police are on the Justice Integrated Wireless Network JIWN system. Which is a P25 Phase II system. Colfax appears to use only Phase I.

Sorry, I just got my SDS 200 and I'm trying to program it right now with Sentinel. How would I program that in... lol I attached a picture to see if I'm doing it right. I have no idea if I have to add the control freq or not.1756381414907.png

When I am in WA state I monitor WA SP via 3 methods. One is the JIWN. There is also the SP trunked system as well as old school conventional frequencies (programmed to allow for analog or P25). Perhaps all the traffic for D4 is in one place, but I find things are always too dynamic to count on it.

Yeah, I tried monitoring one of the supposed analog frequencies but whenever it would go off it sounded digital. Although I didn’t have my SDS200 then so I guess we’ll see if it’s actually P25 soon. (Once I program it in) I also want to be able to hear local pd’s communicate with each other. But I don’t know if they do it through analog or P25. All the departments are analog near me but who knows. I went on a ride along with one of the locals and heard state show up on a scene on their radio.

The local Whitman County freqs are all shown to be digital analog (FMN) not P25.

Yeah I know, I monitor those all the time. I was just saying when WSP and Local communicate through the radio. I’m not sure if they communicate through analog or p25. All I know is, is that the local pds have access to p25 because they can hear state if they wanted to on their radios. The officer that I went on a ride along with said he eventually turned them off because all you heard was traffic stops all day lmao.

Not sure how they communicate, but here in Texas the State Police usually use the local agencies frequencies when they want to talk to locals.

Here is a Favorite List file I did for you for Whitman County. Includes what I saw in your list, and DOT, Amateur repeaters, and weather. Unzip and import the Whitman.hpe file using Sentinel. Quick Keys set to FL1, and departments 1-4, Weather is 99.

You have turned on all the Service Types on the scanner I would assume.

Oh damn, what the hell. Thank you so much. I was not expecting this at all. I appreciate it so much. Yeah I’m not sure how they communicate, it could simply be wsp going to the conventional but I just personally haven’t heard it expect for that one time where I heard state on the ride along. But I made the mistake not looking down to see what channel his radio was on when that happened.

The WA state IWN sites have never been Phase 2. IWN has been undergoing maintenance for the past month. Sites are likely being upgraded and or are going through maintenance checks. Some are offline. There has been very limited WSP activity on IWN for the last 30 days.

This has been discussed in the WA forum.

D4 WSP is still using their VHF conventional frequencies.

Uhhhh... with that being said, would the zip file that's basically a preset work? That they gave me? I would imagine it would, I haven't been home to put it into my SDS 200 yet.

Thought I would update the situation in Yakima, Still not receiving Union Gap at my home location, but took my scanner with me to Vancouver today, literally a mile down the road from my home in Selah I started picking up JIWN from Yakima all the way to Goldendale. What's weird is, I probably would have chalked up the problem at my home being it's location and needing a different antenna etc, except prior to my original post I received JWIN perfectly on this SDS and my old TRX1. I know you gave me those frequency to program in and I have not had time to sit down and try to figure out how to do it. (I appreciate the help) just need to do it.

OK, added the State Police VHF channels to the Favorite List, so use this version of the download.
