Not sure of your area but Detroit uses Dash CAD to get next route or cell phones .When I worked for them in 2007 still had Nextel

Up here in Northern San Diego's "Casino Row", I can hear them [EDCO] on their radios [mostly in Spanish!], as they drive around my neighborhood

I see no visible antenna on any of the EDCO trucks. So, it is reasonable to assume that they too might be on NEXTEL. Next time the guys swings by, I'll ask. Couldn't hurt...

Alain when you heard or hear the comms as they drive by did you hear that distinct chirp sound that those nextel phones make?

There was so much traffic from the inside of the cab, resonating from the "radio", that all I could hear was someone vocalizing Spanish. Couldn't make out words; certainly no "chirp". ;-)
