Does anyone know if Wayne County EMS dispatch is broadcast over old analog VHF like the VFD in the county are? If so, what frequency are they broadcasting on? Thanks in advance!

Wayne EMS used to have a hard patch to 155.280 but they have discontinued it since the EMS stations are being dispatched over P25 now.

Wayne County EMS switched off the VHF Repeater about 2-4 years ago. They are now on Talkgroup 501 on the P25 Phase 2 system. Dispatch tones are also digital now for them aswell.

When a dept starts doing tones on their P25 system, I’ve noticed they pretty much abandon their old VHF or UHF channel..

Because there normally is no need to dispatch on both Analog and Digital. Just combine it to one system. The way we do it here, EMS is full digital dispatch now but Fire is still technically dispatched on the VHF Conventional Channel. But also our Fire dispatch is simulcasted over our Firemain Talkgroup on the P25 System. As a backup system, we have the Zetron Model 25 Encoder/Instant Call Panel just in case the primary P25 System goes down.

The only issue with the Zetron console is that they took out the VHF 155.28 Channel transmitter/repeater for the old EMS Dispatch so we cannot tone EMS through that backup console anymore.
