Hello All!
I just finished setting up my new desktop computer the way I want it with all the programs I need. Next comes the obvious purchase which is an external HD for backing up. I have heard different opinions on WD My Book brand hard drives. I only need it for backing up my software. I have Acronis so it does not need to come with any software. What is the opinion on here about this brand or this particular line? I really would appreciate some input. Thanks!

I don't know about the particular model you've mentioned, but I can tell you that I, my father, and my cousin all own WD external hard drives and we're all very satisfied with them. Good luck!

Some of the MyBooks had issues working under Linux, aside from that, that's the only issue that I have heard of.

The issue with Linux had something to do with a sleep state and no awakening properly. I'm sure that issue has since been addressed though, since that was a few years ago the issue was reported.

I know I have been looking at getting one and using it for backups ideally on my Linux server.
