Hello All:

I recently picked up a nice Pro-2053 and am happy with the reception of everything I've
programmed in except the VHF air band.

I've got a host of other scanners that pick up the airband just fine (including a Pro-2052) from my location, but the 2053 can barely pick up the band. Anybody else seen this type of behavior?

Same thing

I got one when it first came out. I could not pick up the tower from 5 miles away. Terrible, brought it right back.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm also about 5 miles from the airport. I get a decent signal on everything except for Ground on all my other scanners. Funny thing is, I pick up two notoriously weak EDACS systems very well on this same Pro-2053. Go figure.

I guess I'll just listen to the airband on one of the others and use the 2053 for the EDACS stuff. I do like the large display and green backlight on the Pro-2053.

hands down the Pro-2053 has the best receive of any trunktracker i have used for trunktracking, i listen to several trunked systems in a probably 20mile range with out any antenna hooked and it picks them up perfect, and if i use an antenna i turn the att on. outside of 800mhz i have never used it but i would assume it is atleast average, but yea, 2053 is an awesome trunktracker, nice big bright screen and alpha tagging, i've owned about 6 of them and they were all great....

Me two, to me the pro-2053 is the best trunk-tracking scanner I have ever owned. I got rid of my last three a few months back because allot of public saftey is switching over to LTR systems in my area. I am sorry I didn't keep at least one just for the ED trunk system in my area. The LCD was great, big letters and was fairly cheap from the gate, For trunking it couldn't be beat. That must be why Radio Shack stop selling them after only a few months,

2053

As I said the 2053 I had did very poorly in vhf air. I'm only 5 imiles from HWO, and I just find Unidens much easier to program for trunking. I returned the 2053 and kept the 2050 I already had. Austin
