It has only been 2 days since the city picked up all of our tree limbs from the last storm.Hopefully we will get lucky and not lose power this time either.

Below

You might want to have your scanner/s set up and ready to go with ESDA, EMA, I-WARN, ISP, Local Police, Local Fire, NOAA Weather, Local Weather Spotting, IDOT, Public Works/Highway Department, etc. like I do for the storm approaching. Just a thought.

New Watches, Warnings, & Advisories!

AN ICE STORM WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. ICE ACCUMULATIONS MAY LEAD TO SNAPPED POWER LINES AND FALLING TREE BRANCHES THAT ADD TO THE DANGER.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW... SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW...SLEET... AND/OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND BE CAREFUL WHILE DRIVING.

ST LOUIS 455 AM CST SUN JAN 14 2007

AN ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST MONDAY.

THE LAST PHASE OF THE PROLONGED WINTER STORM SYSTEM IS STILL EXPECTED TO PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT ICING LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION. AREAS OF VERY LIGHT FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS...THEN A LARGE SWATH OF MODERATE TO HEAVY PRECIPITATION WILL SPREAD INTO THE AREA DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS. THE PRECIPITATION WILL LAST THROUGH THE EVENING... TAPERING OFF BY MIDNIGHT.

THE GREATEST ICING IS EXPECTED ALONG AN AXIS FROM NEAR LINN TO MONTGOMERY CITY TO LOUISIANA TO PITTSFIELD... WHERE NEW ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM A QUARTER TO A HALF INCH. ALONG AND WEST OF THIS AXIS ACROSS CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST MISSOURI...1 TO 2 INCHES OF SLEET IS EXPECTED ALONG WITH A BURST OF SNOW. TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BE QUITE HAZARDOUS AND DISCOURAGED IN THESE AREAS LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT.

OVER EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI INTO SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS THE FORECAST IS A BIT PROBLEMATIC. THE TEMPERATURES ARE HOVERING NEAR FREEZING AND COULD WAVER ABOVE AND BELOW THE FREEZING MARK THROUGHOUT THE EVENT. THUS...SOME PORTIONS OF THE AREA...ESPECIALLY EAST OF ST LOUIS MAY SEE ONLY LIGHT ICING AT BEST...WHILE WEST OF DOWNTOWN ST LOUIS NEW ICE ACCUMULATIONS MAY APPROACH A QUARTER INCH.

WHILE THE PRECIPITATION WILL HAVE ENDED BY MONDAY...GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS AT 15 TO 25 MPH WILL CAUSE ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO ICE COVERED TREES AND POWER LINES. TEMPERATURES WILL FALL SLOWLY THROUGH THE DAY...AND WIND CHILL VALUES WILL TUMBLE BELOW ZERO BY MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. OVERNIGHT LOWS MONDAY NIGHT WILL FALL INTO SINGLE DIGITS.

STOCK UP ON EXTRA SUPPLIES INCLUDING FOOD...MEDICINE AND EXTRA HEATING FUEL...JUST IN CASE THE STORM MAKES TRAVEL IMPOSSIBLE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF YOU HAVE LOST ELECTRICITY. MAKE PLANS NOW AS TO WHERE YOU WOULD GO SHOULD YOU LOSE POWER... PARTICULARLY IF YOUNG CHILDREN AND OLDER RESIDENTS ARE INVOLVED.

IF YOU LOSE POWER...DO NOT BRING A GENERATOR OR A CHARCOAL GRILL INDOORS AS THEY CAN PRODUCE DEADLY CARBON MONOXIDE GASES.

ANOTHER ROUND OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WILL DEVELOP OVER THE AREA LATE THIS AFTERNOON AS A STRONGER WINTER STORM SYSTEM APPROACHES. THE MIXED PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE OVER TO MAINLY SNOW THIS EVENING WITH SOME ACCUMULATION OF SNOW EXPECTED OVERNIGHT. AT THIS TIME...MINOR ICE ACCUMULATIONS LESS A QUARTER OF AN INCH ARE EXPECTED COMBINED WITH SNOW AMOUNTS OF 1 TO LOCALLY 4 INCHES. WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 25 MPH LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY ALLOWING FOR SOME DRIFTING OF ANY SNOW.

IN NORTHERN COUNTIES NORTH OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES SOUTHEAST OF QUINCY TO MOBERLY...1 TO 2 INCHES OF SLEET IS POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT ALONG WITH A BURST OF SNOW. TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BE QUITE HAZARDOUS AND DISCOURAGED IN THESE AREAS TONIGHT.

THUS...SOME PORTIONS OF THE AREA...MAY SEE ONLY LIGHT ICING AT BEST...WHILE IN OTHER AREAS NEW ICE ACCUMULATIONS MAY APPROACH A QUARTER INCH TO ONE HALF INCH.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS ISSUED FOR A VARIETY OF WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS...SUCH AS SNOW...BLOWING SNOW...SLEET...OR FREEZING DRIZZLE AND RAIN. IT ONLY TAKES A SMALL AMOUNT OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION TO MAKE ROADS... BRIDGES...SIDEWALKS...AND PARKING LOTS ICY AND DANGEROUS. IT IS OFTEN DIFFICULT TO TELL WHEN ICE BEGINS TO FORM...SO DO NOT BE CAUGHT OFF GUARD.

...DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS EXPECTED THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND EARLY NEXT WEEK...

THE COLDEST AIR OF THE WINTER SEASON IS EXPECTED TO SETTLE OVER THE AREA THIS WEEKEND AND EARLY NEXT WEEK.

THE FIRST WAVE OF ARCTIC AIR WILL CONTINUE TO POUR INTO THE AREA THIS MORNING ON STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO 30 MPH. THESE WINDS COMBINED WITH TEMPERATURES FALLING TO ZERO OR BELOW WILL PRODUCE BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS OF 20 TO 30 BELOW ZERO OVER NORTHEAST IOWA.

ELSEWHERE... TEMPERATURES WILL DROP INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS WITH WIND CHILLS LOWERING IN THE RANGE OF 10 TO 20 BELOW ZERO.

A SECOND AND MORE INTENSE SURGE OF ARCTIC AIR IS SLATED TO ARRIVE LATE TONIGHT AND SATURDAY...AND WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY YET ANOTHER ROUND OF FLURRIES AND SNOW SHOWERS... AND STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS GUSTING AROUND 30 MPH.

MORNING LOW TEMPERATURES SUNDAY AND MONDAY ARE LIKELY TO RANGE FROM 10 BELOW TO 20 BELOW ZERO...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80.

ISOLATED LOCATIONS NEAR HIGHWAY 20 COULD SEE TEMPERATURES COLDER THAN 20 BELOW. MEANWHILE...LOW TEMPERATURES SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80 WILL RANGE FROM AROUND ZERO TO THE SINGLE DIGITS BELOW ZERO. HIGH

TEMPERATURES BOTH DAYS WILL STRUGGLE INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS TO AROUND TEN DEGREES. SOME LOCATIONS NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80 MAY SEE SUB ZERO HIGH TEMPERATURES.

THE COMBINATION OF BITTERLY COLD TEMPERATURES AND A STEADY NORTHWEST WIND...WILL PRODUCE DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS FOR MUCH OF THE WEEKEND AND EARLY NEXT WEEK. LIFE THREATENING WIND CHILLS OF 30 BELOW OR EVEN COLDER ARE LIKELY FOR AREAS ALONG AND ESPECIALLY NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80.

WIND CHILL ADVISORIES AND WARNINGS WILL LIKELY BE NEEDED FOR THE WEEKEND AND EARLY NEXT WEEK.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CST /10 AM EST/ TUESDAY.

BRUTALLY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL FIND IT DIFFICULT TO RISE ABOVE ZERO NORTH OF I-88...AND ONLY MAKING IT TO 5 OR 6 DEGREES ABOVE WELL SOUTH OF THERE. STRONG WEST WINDS TODAY WILL PRODUCE BITTER WIND CHILLS OF 20 TO 30 BELOW ZERO. THESE BITING COLD TEMPERATURES AND BLUSTERY WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP WIND CHILLS NEAR THIS RANGE THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE WIND CHILLS AT OR LESS THEN 20 BELOW ZERO. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...DRESS IN LAYERS AND COVER ALL SKIN. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES. LIMIT OUTDOOR ACTIVITY TO MINIMIZE EXPOSURE...AS FROSTBITE CAN OCCUR IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS.

PETS ARE ALSO SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE EXTREME COLD AS MUCH AS YOU ARE. KEEP PETS INDOORS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. IF THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE... MAKE SURE OUTDOOR PETS HAVE WARM DRY SHELTER. PROVIDE SUFFICIENT FOOD AND FRESH UNFROZEN WATER.

CHECK ON ELDERLY FAMILY MEMBERS AND NEIGHBORS. IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE IN THE CITY OF CHICAGO...CALL 3 1 1.

Can't you just post a link and not recopy THE WHOLE ENTIRE THING ON THE THREAD?

It wastes space on the forums. If it's cold, or if it's icy, I'm sure everyone who lives and breathes knows it.
