Weld County Fatal

TIME: 12:15 P.M.
LOCATION: Highway 85 312' North of Weld County Road 6 1/2.
On 3-2-08 at approximately 3:40 A.M. Troopers responded to both lanes of Highway 85 just north of Weld County Road 6 1/2.
A black 2004 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was traveling northbound on Highway 85. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a delineator post. The driver overcorrected and skidded across all northbound lanes, across the center median and onto the southbound lanes. The vehicle rolled 1/2 time ejecting the driver, and came to final rest on the southbound lanes facing in a northwesterly manner.
The unrestrained driver has been identified as Brandon L. Hewitt, 33 of Evans, CO. Hewitt sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Weld County Coroner.
Drugs and speed are not suspected as contributing factors, however alcohol may have contributed.
Next of kin have been notified.
