Hiway 50 is closed near the Swissvale area.. mm 234, due to a truck with a ruptured tank, belived to be propane. Fremont SO is attempting evacuate the Swissvale area. CSP, FCSO, Howard FD as well on scene. CSP hazmat responding from Pueblo. CSP trying to get traffic stopped at Hiway 9 and 50.

SWISSVALE -- --
A truck tractor pulling a loaded semi tanker trailer has rolled on the roadway west of Swissvale blocking all lanes Sunday evening.

The tanker is filled with butane and authorities are concerned that the ruptured tank presents a very dangerous situation. Evacuations are being conducted within the immediate area.

The Colorado State Patrol's Hazardous Materials Team has been activated anddeployed. The motoring public has been detoured from Highway 9 to Highway285, and Highway's 50 & 9 to Swissvale, CO.

The driver of the truck tractor has sustained minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.

Highways within the immediate area will be closed for an unknown period of time during this investigation.

Sounds like US-50 is still closed for cleanup this morning, unknown if the evacuations continue.

They are letting local traffic west of highway 9 on 50, to Howard. Last estimate for getting the highway opened, was 1100, they where just getting ready to upright the truck and start off loading the remaining butane into another truck. Quite a mess still.

I was away from the radio for awhile.. not sure what happened,but CCFD is stage at the Cotopaxi bridge as requested by CSP Hazmat, wanting them to deploy 'booms' if necessary. FD advising water too high and fast for the booms to work. Canon City Water Treatment was also advised to shut off there pumps, just in case it does make to the water. Unknown when this will be cleared up..

Highway 50 is now open both directions, excellent news...Jim that storm over Penrose caught trooper on a motorcycle, he was responding on a motorist assist, but had to pull off because of heavy rain and hail.
