I searched the forum and didn't find an answer, so hopefully someone can answer this for me (I would greatly appreciate the clarification). Can anyone explain to me how the Westmoreland County fire zones are designated? I understand how the police districts are assigned (1 is west, 3 is central, 9 is northwest, etc), and how the EMS "groups" are assigned (1 is north, 2 is west, 3 is central, etc) but I haven't found anything so far that concretely identifies the zones for fire. I know there are five zones (1-4 and Mon Valley), but that is the extent of my knowledge. Incidentally, was there ever a PD district 8 or EMS group 8? Thank you for any replies!

No PD Zone 8 that I ever knew.

EMS TAC8 is Allegheny Health Network & Mon Valley Hospital.

BTW, EMS 1 is Dispatch (countywide), 2 is North Ops, and 3 is South Ops. 4 is Rostraiver / North Huntingdon.

Fire is as follows:
Zone - Area
----------------
1 - East
2 - North
3 - West & Central
4 - South
5/Mon - Mon Valley

Thank you very much for the information.. Do you know which departments are assigned to which zone?

I have a list of the zone for each department, but nothing put together in one table.

Are there any that you wish to know about? In general, if you draw an X through the county, those are the zones. Central would be a circle in the middle of the X.

I was pretty much just interested in knowing how all of the county's departments are divided. It's not a big deal, just my curiosity.

There are no groups of departments such as stations 1-40 are in Zone 1, etc.

For example, station 112 is Jeannette, and station 113 is Latrobe - nowhere close to each other. 112 is in zone 3 and Latrobe is in zone 1.

Just draw the X with the circle in the center, and those are the zones.
