Been doing some work in the Covington area lately.. I have monitored a bunch of frequencies for the Westrock Plant in Covington. All has been VHF with the exception to 462.450 131.8. Lots of general maintenance traffic on that channel related to fire alarms, so I am assuming that is a shared Rescue Squad/Fire Brigade channel (listed as Westvaco Rescue in the DB).

Anyone have any idea where Security is hiding, or if they are on the same channel with Rescue/Fire?

Thanks!

I've been in Covington a number of times, and little to no luck on WestRock. Actually stayed nearby at the little motel right by the bridge to 60 West. Have had no luck, but plant security may actually be security/safety and use 462.45 that you found. At some plants, security deals primarily with access control, and patrols may be minimal or uneventful. In Hopewell, you'll hear very little on security freqs for WestRock or AdvanSix. At the WestRock plant, gate security simply uses an all-call TG to announce when a train is entering the plant.

Also note that WestRock tends to use DMR most places I see them. Are you hearing masking on any of the freqs you're monitoring?

152.2850 123.0 (153.0650 123.0)
150.8525 67.0 (157.4925 67.0)
462.4500 131.8 (467.4500 131.8)

Allen,

I agree. My database showed WNOF844, 462.450 mhz., repeater as "Security" for the previous analog WestVaCo operation listed at least 10+ years ago and the emission changed at least a year+ ago to show DMR Analog/MOTOTRBO West Rock, Covington.

There was heavy traffic from WestRock, but all analog and all VHF except for 462.450 131.8. The only DMR I located at all was 462.5125 CC9 which I can't account for from looking at the licenses for Alleghany and Greenbrier.

I know they probably are not on "patrol" per se, but would be nice to know what channel they are on to stay abreast of the situation at the plant.

I'd also recommend searching. Something could be going on with a freq that's not yet showing up in the FCC database, or licensed for regional/nationwide use, or where the license has expired
