• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Asked this question on Facebook Unication Group and did not receive a response.

I have a G5 and a G3. On my G3 (serial # begins with G3C), under “Main Menu/Function Status #3", are the usual G4, G5 Bluetooth settings for pairing an earphone. However, on the G3, #4 in Function Status is BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and shows "BLE Device on/off", but unlike #3 there is no Earphone on/off. I cannot find any documentation to show what this is for, how it works or what devices it works with.

On both my G3 and G5, under “Main Menu/Information” the last item listed is BT2.0 ID> followed by a series of numbers and letters. However, on my G3 Information screen, between Battery> and Model Number> is:
BLE> FWVer:H16201-V0-R10
Name:Unication_BLE

When I turn BLE Device on, a yellow BT symbol appears on the top line (normal BT symbol is blue) and, if I turn both on I get the normal blue symbol with the yellow symbol next to it. I can pair earphones with the original BT (the annoying beep is back). I have not been able to pair anything with BLE Device. And, when I try, after a couple of minutes it times out. When it times out, across the top line of the main screen it states “BLE Advertise timeout”

I sent a couple of requests for information about BLE to Unication via my dealer. The response I received from Unication was one short sentence, “The G3 is Bluetooth 4.0”

Anyone with a G3 that has gotten BLE to work and could explain it to me?

BLE is a newer BlueTooth (4.x) mode. I don't really understand the "in's and out's of it", but I believe that the reason that a lot of newer BT devices (headsets and such) don't work with the G4/5 is that they *only* support BLE, and the G4/5 BT2.x hardware doesn't support it. Conversely, if you have an older BT device (headset, etc.) that doesn't support BLE, it wouldn't work with the BLE implementation in the G3 (but maybe it'd still work with the non-BLE mode). I don't have a G3 to try any of this with....
