There is an additional aspect of rebanding that affects Motorola SmartNet/SmartZone (3600 baud) trunking systems, and that involves the parameters used to translate the hexadecimal integers sent by the OSW to signify the assigned voice channel into a frequency in MHz.
Rebanding creates some new channels in the 851-853.5 range for which no corresponding values exist in the original SmartNet channel table. As a result, the receiving radio has to be re-programmed with a new channel table. For the PSR-500/-600, using Win500 software from Starrsoft, this involves simply picking the "rebanded" option in a drop down menu. For other radios, it may be more problematic.
