I want to learn more about 5 tone signalling. What would people here recommend to decode 5 tone signalling?

I don't know much about this, but since nobody else has replied yet:

Originally a European signaling protocol, 5-Tone has numerous formats such as CCIR, ZVEI, ZVEI2, DZV1, EEA, EEA2, DAPL, EIA and DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency)

(from What is 5-Tone Signaling? - Icom Two Way Radio FAQ's )

I believe multimon-ng or maybe the original multimon can decode at least some of those formats.

multimon-ng is the successor of multimon. It decodes the following digital transmission modes:
  • POCSAG512 POCSAG1200 POCSAG2400
  • FLEX
  • EAS
  • UFSK1200 CLIPFSK AFSK1200 AFSK2400 AFSK2400_2 AFSK2400_3
  • HAPN4800
  • FSK9600
  • DTMF
  • ZVEI1 ZVEI2 ZVEI3 DZVEI PZVEI
  • EEA EIA CCIR
  • MORSE CW
  • X10

multimon and multimon-ng are both available in the Ubuntu repositories and likely for other Linux distros as well (or you could compile it yourself). I have no idea what the Windows scene for it looks like, though.
