I’m getting back into monitoring and the learning curve has got me going in circle. I just purchased a HomePatrol 2 and a BCD536HP, with intentions of adding a SDS200…after learning how set these up.

I am surprised that entering a Yukon zip code and decreasing the range to 5 miles fails to receive Yukon or Mustang, unless they have gone encrypted.

The analog mustang FD channel can still be used for paging. Sometimes they carry all of their traffic on that channel but usually just paging. I do not know if Yukon still has an analog ch for paging.

Mustang Fd Paging
155.595Mhz
DPL 054

Yukong FD used to use 154.325Mhz but unk if they still use it for anything????

Yukon, Mustang, Bethany and Warr Acres are on Oklahoma City Public Service system. I get them all on my 436HP.

OKC Metro Public Service Network. OCPD owns the system.

I don't understand why OCPD put in this network.

One night, OCPD was involved with a chase. At the same time, OHP was in a chase.

Long story short, the chases go on to I-40 westbound. OCPD was going east in the westbound lanes. OCPD and OHP had no way to talk with each other.

The two chases smashed head on. The Trooper and OCPD officer were both killed in a firey crash.

Everyone was outraged that the two departments could not talk with each other. OCPD immediately got funded to purchase the equipment to be able to take with OHP and the municipalities on OKWIN.

OCPD goes out and buys APCO PHASE 2 and they STILL cannot talk to OHP without a patch that has to be set up by the dispatcher.

I don't know who in OC government approved that debacle, but they need a serious butt kicking.

Earlier this week, OCPD was chasing a truck and OHP joined the chase. The lead OCPD officer wanted to know if OHP was going to take the lead and PIT the perp but the dispatcher could not connect the two departments.

I was watching this on TV and had a scanner on the city and another on OHP. I haven't been so mad in a very long time, knowing that the money given to OCPD was a total waste.

Matt Evans and Jeremy Rominger died in the crash and OCPD let them die in vain.

here is a list of 161 frequencies that are inter-op

the ones that could have been used, but are often overlooked,
155.37 usually city to city
155.475 all law inter-op
155.5875 same as above
and the five 8 tacs
851.0125 851.5125 852.0125 852.5125 853.0125
and there are more.
and of course a phone can be used.
and even with communication, things can get messed up.

OCPD has full access to Troop A on their own radios and can switch anytime they want. Ohp and ocpd have often been patched together as long as it’s requested. If there was a legit issue the other day during that chase then that’s a good reminder that technology isn’t perfect nor will it ever be. It was also the cities decision to build out their own sys when the state started dragging their feet for upgrades & adding additional infrastructure that is still needed today not to mention okwin has suffered many critical failures that makes the sys unreliable. It makes plenty of sense for OKC to build their own sys.

155.37 isn't used for point to point in Oklahoma like it is in many other states.

I hope you misspelled 155.4875 because 155.5875 isn't a national interop channel.

Oklahoma has several interop channels that other states don't.

The only evidence I have seen personally was during the chase of a pickup truck that rolled through the Mustang area and back to OKC.

I had a scanner on OKWIN and another on OKC Metro. The lead city car asked several times to be patched into Troop A but the dispatcher, for whatever reason, never completed the request. The OCPD officer wanted to know if the Trooper was coming up to TVI the vehicle. I guess he did not know how to do it himself.

Fortunately, the driver finally pulled over and gave himself up.

The focus of my original post was on the fact that money was allotted to upgrade the city's radios to be able to talk directly with OHP. Instead, they put in a simulcast Phase 2 system and farmed out bandwidth to smaller cities and apparently still cannot talk directly and immediately with OHP. It was NOT my intent to disparage any law enforcement officers.

Do you have the OKC Metro Public Safety System in your favorites list? That system has OKC, Yukon, Mustang, Warr Acres, Nichols Hills, Village, Canadian County, and Bethany in their talk group.
