Hi all, looking for real world experience with a good, light weight tri-band antenna. Including 2m/6m/70cm or a combo that includes HF in it as well. I cannot have a real heavy antenna on my mast due to high winds and such so I am looking for something reasonably light.

Any suggestions?

Comet GP-15

I've had a comet gp-15 years now, not cheap, but IMHO, well worth it. It also does an excellent job on VHF air receive, and uhf, vhf, and VHF low public safety receive.

Note, as it's a vertical it's not intended for 6meter sideband use. Though I've heard some complain about the bandwidth on 6m, I tuned it once in about 3 min, for the repeater input segment, and have never had to fool with it since. The advertised 1mhz bandwidth on 6m, I find is certainly adequate for repeater usage, which is what the ant. is deseigned for on 6m.

Hi Rob and all,

For goodness sakes Dew your homework! Here's pointing you in the right direction, no tri band VHF/UHF antenna has HF and no tri band HF antenna has VHF/UHF. There's plenty to chose from if you know what you're looking for so start looking.

Thanks for the replies..I appreciate them...I like the GP-15, and it seems of reasonable size. I may try that one based on the replies here. Do they make a base antenna for all four bands?
