• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

I am located in Blackford County Indiana. This county and the majority of the surrounding counties police have gone to digital talkgroups. I am just getting back into scanning and neither of my scanners are capable of receiving digital trunked systems. What is the CHEAPEST scanner I can get that is a digital trunking scanner? After looking briefly through Amazon, the REALLY high price of $500 is stuck in my head. I was thinking more like $300 or less. Maybe wishful thinking on my part, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. I am new to the digital scanner era so an easier to program scanner wouldn't hurt any.

Used ones on EBay run $250-$350, for anything new you are looking at $450-500.
