• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

What's the "newest" software that will program an old M-PD?

I've got a use for an old M-PD, as a dedicated data channel monitoring radio for the local systems. I've got some M-PDs.

What's the last version of either PST or ProGrammer that supported the M-PD?

Ideally, I'd like to find a version of ProGrammer that supports it. Is there such a thing,
or do I have to continue to use PST, as clunky as it is?

The M-PD is not a ProGrammer supported radio. Actually, I don't think any of the older hardcoded radios are supported. I know the Panasonic HHC would program some, maybe all the M-PD's, but I prefer to use the DOS software.

Conventional M-PD: MPD CNV Radio Programmer ver 2.0
Voiceguard M-PD: MPD VG Radio Programmer ver 3.0
EDACS: EDACS Radio Prgrammer - 1 ver 10.2

EDACS 1 comes with the help files. I've never been able to locate the help files for either the CNV nor VG MPD programs, but I'd love to have them! EDACS 1 covers the MPD, MPA. MTL, and some mobile units. Anyone out there know of something newer, please correct. There are other version of EDACS, and EDACS4 is ProGrammer, but EDACS1 is the only version I've ever seen.

I've got PST but I was hoping for something newer that would allow me to import and export data sets rather than have to build them from scratch.

PST is also what you need for programming the S825 series control heads for Rangr mobile radios. And I've always liked that setup, a lot. The Rangr is one seriously impressively
well made radio. Though I'm a Motorola man first and foremost, I will not hesitate to say
that I admire the design and construction of the Rangr as much as that of any radio ever made. It's truly a class act.

I BELIEVE that the Rangrs will STILL be usable after rebanding as long as I have no need
for the conventional NPSPAC channels, and I don't.
